Leiah has turned the corner on the half way point of her preggers session. We found out last week she's having a baby boy, to be named Benjamin Ace Messer (BAM!), but the poll is still going from the previous post if you want to make a guess as to birthday and dimensions (weight, length, etc). Congrats to Leiah and Matt!We'll be having a shower for them on May 21, Sunday, from 3-5 pm, so plan on being there. It's a party for boys and girls, and everyone will be expected to fight for prizes by competing in exciting baby contests. Jeremy, start growing that affinity for spinach that you had at Kate's shower! Look for your invites in the mail this week. In the meantime, here's the progress update and the first glimpse of the thing that makes Ben a boy (the last on the right) as well as his hands and feet and manly little profile.
Which reminds me of the totally parasitic question mom posed to Leiah after her last visit: "Do you realize you've got ten toes inside your body? And ten fingers? And a penis?!" In effect, Leiah has a penis right now. That's just gross. And weird. Good one, Mom.

I'd take the "it's a boy" with a grain of salt, for now anyway. The docs kept telling my brother and his wife they were having a boy up until the eight month and we now have Miss Maya.
Can they shed a penis? Ha!

I believe it was Amber who first pointed out the "You have a penis inside you" thing. Mom simply referred to the miracle of a person being able to grow fingers and toes and, in this case, a penis. It was the most hilarious reaction anyone had as of yet to the boy news though. And if they were wrong...which if you've seen the pictures, I don't think they are wrong...but if they are (or a penis can be shed) we have an adorable name for a girl picked out. Of course I am not telling because it is on reserves for later. He is incredibly healthy and active and for that we are thrilled.
