Leiah's turned the corner on her fourth month of babydom. We still don't know what she's having but should find out soon. Everything is going great, and we'll be having a shower for her in May (don't worry, boys, I do co-ed showers so you can be invited too!), which is a little earlier than most people do it, but we want to have one when Shan and Chaz are home. I'm also having a skate party for my 28th birthday party, so get out the ankle braces and knee pads. Details on both to come. In the meantime, I thought it might be cool to take bets, no money involved yet, on due dates and sex. She's due Sept. 6, according to the docs, but mother nature has a way of changing that stuff. Also, if you have any name suggestions, let's hear those too. If it's a boy, I think they're leaning toward Benjamin Ace Messer, but if someone can beat that, I'm sure they'll consider it. So, post your labor date guess, including the time, gender guess and any name suggestions NOW! For the record, I think she's having a boy on Sept. 3, 2006, at 3:19 p.m. Whoever gets closest without going over will win something so cool you won't be able to stand it. Maybe a weekend in LA???

Four down, five to go

I'm thinking this baby (a boy) will be a late bloomer just like his mama, so I'm gonna say he will be born a Virgo on Sept. 7 at 11:59 P.M. -just a stroke before midnight (he loves the nightlife)
P.S. Co-ed Showers?!?!?!? SIGN ME UP!
I am going to say Sep. 4th 3:23 a.m. and it's going to be a girl
Can I find out some of her symptoms before I guess? Morning sickness? Any cravings and what? I'll be looking for our invitation to the shower. Is Jonah too young for the skating party?
I will be happy to supply symptoms if that is allowed.
Symptoms, cravings and Jonahs are allowed. Ask away and Leiah shall answer. As far as I know she hasn't had much morning sickness and she has been able to eat garlic, which she was incredibly allergic to pre-preg. Leiah, what have your cravings been? Good luck!
Ok Leiah. Symptoms please. Then I'll guess. I'm ususally pretty good at this too.
I bet the baby is going to be a boy!!! He will be born on September 7, 2006 at 11:23 A.M. and he will weigh 7 pounds 9 inches.
Ok here we go...I had one day of morning sickness the day after I found out I was pregnant. I think it was psychological. No specific cravings at this point but in the first trimester I developed a strong liking for grapefruit and discovered that I could infact eat garlic, and actually wanted to eat it. It used to make me throw up or have diarrhea (sorry if that is too much info, just be glad it doesn't happen to you.)I actually requested garlic bread to go with my spaghetti at my mom's Monday night.Food aversions include eggs all the time and red meat most the time. I prefer to eat salmon or chicken. As for the baby--I can feel it kick and sometimes others can too if it is positioned right. It's heart rate is right in the middle of normal range (120-160 beats per minute)at 141 bpm. Oh yeah, toothpaste made me gag in the beginning so I had lessen the amount I put on my toothbrush by a lot. That has subsided though. I am supposed to find out the sex of the baby on April 19th so I was wondering if that marked the winnings of the sex part of the contest or if it has to be confirmed at birth...cause I was planning on putting that info in with the invites to the shower. So...rulemaker...do we tell or not? Hope this helps. Any other questions just ask.
Oh yeah...I guess I'll include my guess. I actually have two dates in mind for different reasons and since I am the mother I am going to entitle myself to list both of them. Any complaints and my baby will kick you!
I think it's a boy. It will be born either September 4th or 6th, 2006 at 1:34 p.m. and will weigh 8lbs 3oz. Big things come in small packages.
It is going to be a girl, fashionably late, arriving for her birthday on Friday, September 8th at 4:45 p.m. She wants to get here in time to enjoy everyone singing, "Happy Birthday to you, Isabella Blake Messer", and to watch us all eat cake. She is not partaking of cake because she wants to keep her figure petite at a mere 7 pounds and 1 ounce, that and she'll prefer her mother's nectar, since she trusts her mother who will have been feeding her for 40 weeks by then. After all that excitement, she and her mother will nap while all other interested persons will go out on Friday night and party to celebrate Isabella's arrival and Leiah's great performance - producing and delivering a brand new human being unlike any other ever before. Matt will be glazed over in a gaze of utter awe and joy at having been gifted his daughter by the extraordinary and precious Leiah Joy Hensley. He will spend the night in gratitude, demonstrated by whispers of thanks to Leiah, a special dinner for the two of them, roses, a special piece of jewelry to mark the occasion, including a baby ring for Isabella, and heaps of love and devotion promised to both mother and child.
This is what I'm "expecting" to be the true and correct prediction.
Lastly, Isabella will adore her "GG", which stands for goodest grandma, who plans on living long enough to graduate to great grandma. Conveniently, "GG" is a fitting name for consecutive generations to use.
I love this story.
Don't you just love how mom adds names that come to her out of thin air?!?! I think Amber has dibs on Isabella, mom...Keep tryin' though. I love your efforts and have hopes that one day you'll pick one I agree with cause I am having a hard time coming up with a girls name and I've been searching everywhere.
I've always loved the name Amber. Has a nice, familiar, solid yet exotic ring to it. All the strippers and porn stars gravitate toward it too, which adds an interesting layer to it. Feel free to name her Amber or any modification thereof, but only if you want to ensure she'll be the smartest, funniest, nicest, greatest, bravest, prettiest baby girl in the universe...
